How do I remove the ads from wwriteLite?

Provided you are running version 4.6.0 or newer, you can do this by going to Tools -> In-App Purchases and purchasing the "Remove Ads" in-app purchase.
 

I have an issue with wwriteLite and need assistance, how do I contact support?

You can contact support by tapping on "Tools" -> "Support". Here you can tap on "Email" and an email will be started.
 

Is there a way to synchronize files and templates between devices?

Yes, starting with version 8.3.0 you can enable syncing by going to Tools -> Settings -> Enable File and Template Syncing. This will need to be enabled on each device to enable syncing.

Syncing is done via iCloud, so your data stays secure.
 

Is there any way to synchronize saved prompts?

I didn't write down a prompt, can I search for it?

You can search for previous prompts. This is done by pulling down on Writing Prompt or One Word Prompt screen and a search box should appear. This will only be available on devices running iOS 15 or later, or macOS Monterey or later.
 

What are Saved prompts?

Saved Prompts are prompts that you want to be able to go back to a Writing Prompt or One Word Prompt without actually creating a file. You can save any prompt by tapping on the star next to it.
 

I have an idea for a new feature for wwriteLite, how do I tell you about it?

You can contact support by tapping on "Tools" -> "Support". If you prefer to remain anonymous, use the Feature Request option under Tools -> Support.
 

Can I run wwriteLite on my Mac?

Yes, as of version 6.2.0. The caveat is that you need to have a Mac running an M1 processor, or later. It can be found in the App Store and selecting "iPhone & iPad Apps".
 

I am not comfortable with some of the ads in wwriteLite, can I limit which ads are shown?

There is no way to hide a specific ad, however, you have the option to only show "Family Friendly" ads. This is configured by going to Tools -> Settings -> "Show Family Friendly Ads".
 

How does "Locking Files" work with wwriteLite?

Locking Files is used to allow you to protect a file by requiring Face ID, Touch ID, or a password in order to open. The password is your iPhone or iPad passcode.

In order to lock a file, you can swipe from the left on a file and tapping on “Lock” or continuing to swipe to the right. You can unlock files in the same manner.

Locking files does not protect the file if someone plugs in the phone, but only from someone being able to access it while using your device.

There are a couple of things to note about Locked Files.

When a file is locked, you cannot use drag and drop on the file and you cannot delete the file. In order to use drag and drop or delete a file, you will need to unlock the file.
 

What are the "Writing Prompts"?

The writing prompts are a new feature of wwriteLite 8.0.0 and provide you a new prompt each week for possible topics to write about. You can read a bit more about "Writing Prompts" on the wwriteLite website.
 

What are the "One Word Prompts"?

"One Word Prompts", as the name implies, will provide you a single word as a writing prompt. This word is updated every day. You can read a bit more about One Word Prompts on the wwriteLite website.
 

How does Distraction-Free Mode work?

Distraction-Free Mode works by removing the file list and status bar and will provide you with as much space to work on your writing. To enable Distraction-Mode, click on the icon and then turn on the "Distraction Free" switch. To disable it, tap on the icon and turn the "Distraction Free" switch off.

How do I get files onto my iPad?

- The first is to email yourself a file and copy and paste the contents into a new file.
- The second is to use iTunes. Once your iPad is plugged in, you can click on the ‘Apps’ tab at the left side. Then you can click on ‘wwrite’. Finally you can click on the ‘Add’ button and find the file you want to import. You can only import individual files at this moment. Importing an Archive may come in the future.

- As of wwrite 3.0.0, you are now able to import files from the “Share Sheet” of any application. wwrite supports any plain-text file.
- As of wwrite 3.1.0, you can use drag and drop on iOS 11 to import not only text, but also files.
- As of wwrite 4.6.0, you are able to import files by tapping on the "+" button and tapping on Import Files. This will bring up a file picker similar to the "Files" app and you can import any text file.
 

How does wwriteLite know what to put into a new file?

wwriteLite is designed to take the contents of any file that is shared through iTunes, or through drag and drop in iOS 11, and put it into a file. It will not attempt to read out any of the file, it will merely take the contents as-is and import it.
 

What type of files does wwrite support?

wwriteLite supports both plain-text files as well as Rich Text Format, or RTF files. Along with this wwriteLite supports emoji and the font size and styles can also be customized.
 

I want to import a template, can this be done?

At this time, it is not possible to import templates. This may be a feature that comes in the future.
 

All of the files I import just have a white background, is there anyway to import a file with a background color already assigned?

With version 4.6.0, you can tap and hold on the "drag" icon for an open file and you can drag it to the File List. This will duplicate the file.

As of version 5.0.0, you can tap and hold on a file in the File List and you can tap the "duplicate" button to duplicate the file. This will duplicate the file including the assigned template.
 

Can I compress all of my current files and then delete them?

Yes, as of version 1.3.0 there is an option to compress the files. The files will be available via an 'archive' file when sharing within iTunes.
As of version 2.1.0 you now have more options. You can now archive "Files Only", "Files and Metadata", "Templates Only", or "Everything". Also in version 2.1.0, there is an option to erase everything, excluding templates; there is a separate option for erasing templates. This will erase everything, including archives. It is recommended that you email a full archive to yourself before erasing all content.
 

How do I customize a template?

You can customize a template by performing the following:
- Select an existing file, or create a Blank File
- Tap on “Tools”.
- Tap on “Customize Templates”
- Select a template, or create a new template
- Adjust the Red, Green, and Blue sliders for the background, and font.
- Edit the Template text to create the template that you want.
- Click on Save. Your new template is ready to use.
